Wat Khae  วัดแค

Located 2 kilometers north of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat in Amphoe Mueang Suphan Buri , Wat Khae is an ancient temple mentioned in "Khun Chang Khun Phaen", an epic Thai poem, in which stands a 1,000-year-old huge tamarind tree with an approximately 9.5 meters in circumference. The legend has it that Khun Phaen, having learned black magic from Master Khong, transformed tamarind leaves, exactly from this tree, into wasps and hornets and used it to fight the enemy.

Not far from the tamarind tree is a traditional Thai house called "Khum Khun Phaen" which was built as a part of the literature park and a part of literary and historical art conservation.King Rama V visited this temple in 1904. The temple houses many interesting antiques such as 4 brass Buddha footprints, one on another, possessing 1.4 meters in width and 2.8 meters in length.

Besides that, there are also Rattanakosin period's Buddha images with beautiful floral print at the end of the 'civara' (monk robes) and 'angsa' (shoulder cloth) in the attitude of subduing Mara and of sitting cross-leg with one top of another, residing in front of the principle Buddha image in the vihara. Other antiques include a brass bell, a brass boiler and a bookcase which was donated by King Rama V in 1869. Wat Khae is situated at Mu 1, Somphan Khong Road, Tambon Rua Yai, Amphoe Mueng, Suphan Buri province 72000. Tourists can reach there via personal conveyance. Once you arrive at Somphan Khong Road, go further for 1.2 kilometers. The temple is on your right. Wat Khae is free entry and opens everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wat Phra Non, Suphanburi province, Thailand

Wat Phra Non, Suphanburi province, Thailand

Wat Phra Non was built in Rattanakosin period. It is an ancient temple from the reign of Au Thong Suvarnabhumi. Presently, there are many Thais and foreigners come visit the temple everyday as this place is counted as an Unseen Thailand tourism place.

There are many highlights inside the temple. Since you enter the temple, you will encounter the sermon hall in a monastery in front of the temple. Later, when you walk a little bit more through inside, you will spot a fish farm called Auttayarn Majcha

which is actually a Royal project under HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. There are a variety of fish living here such as Pangasius sutchi, Carp, Gourami, etc. Visitors can make a merit here by feeding fish. Also, next to a fish farm, there is a Guan Yin Shrine opens for any believers. Besides, Phra Non Sanctuary is counted as another highlight of the place. The sanctuary is in a tetrahedron shape.

There is one reclining Buddha image which was made of rock lies inside the sanctuary. The Buddha image here is a little bit different from others as the image is in the lying on back posture with two meters size. It is pretty much similar to the one at Kusinara town, India. There are a variety of trees and plants grow all over the area which make the place more attractive and peaceful. Visitors can come over the place by car. Take the same route with Wat Phra Sri Rattanamahathat. Keep going straight for 4.1 kilometers from Somparnkong Road and you will spot the temple on your right.

located at Moo.2, Somparnkong Sub-District, Muang District, Suphanburi, 72000
