Wat Bowonniwetwiharn Ratchaworawiharn

เมื่อราว พ.ศ. 2391 มีผู้นำมาถวายแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๔
ซึ่งขณะนั้นยังผนวชอยู่ที่วัดบวรนิเวศวิหาร และอยู่ในรัชกาลพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว

พระไพรีพินาศองค์นี้ทรงแสดงอภินิหารให้ปรากฏอริราชศัตรูที่คิดปองร้าย
พระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว  ต่างมีอันเป็นไป และพ่ายแพ้ภัยตนเอง

พระองค์จึงโปรดให้ถวาย พระนามของพระพุทธ รูปองค์สำคัญนี้ว่า "พระไพรีพินาศ"
โดยมีหลักฐานเป็นกระดาษพับสอดไว้ใต้ฐานมีอักษรเขียนว่า "พระสถูปเจดีย์ศิลาบัลลังก์องค์ จงมีนามว่าพระไพรีพินาศเทอญ"
และอีกด้านเขียนว่า "เพราะตั้งแต่ทำมาแล้ว คนไพรีก็วุ่นวายยับเยินไปโดยลำดับ"

หลักฐานดังกล่าวได้ค้นพบเมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2507 ระหว่างซ่อมแซมพระเจดีย์ 96 ปี วัดบวรนิเวศวิหาร
ลักษณะทางกายภาพ
เป็นพระพุทธรูปศิลาขนาดย่อม หน้าตักกว้าง 33 ซม. และมีความสูงถึงปลายรัศมี 53 ซม. สมเด็จฯกรมพระยาดำรงราชานุภาพได้มีพระวินิจฉัยในสาสน์สมเด็จว่า"พระไพรีพินาศเป็นพระพุทธรูปแบบมหายานปางประทับ นั่งประทานอภัย กล่าวคือ มีพระพุทธลักษณะเหมือนพระปางมารวิชัยหัตถ์ขวาที่วางอยู่บนพระชานุ"
