PROGOGUE

The narrative begins with a bloodline war breaking out due to an unfortunate misunderstanding between the King of Mithila and his Prince Brother who wants to claim the throne.  As a consequence, the King faces his demise in the battlefieldand his Royal Consort has to flee to another city with a baby.  Mahajanak, growing in her royal womb.

As time passes, Mahajanaka grows into a young man and finally comes to know the truth about his fateful father.  He hence wishes to earn back the throne that rightfully belonged to his father King,by going aboard a trade ship with other merchants to the land of Suvarnabhumi.

ACT 1 THE SHIP FOUNDERING AMIDST THE OCEAN
After boarding a trade ship, on which Mahajanaka goes to the land of Suvamabhumi, he sails across the borderless ocean of seven hundred leagues for seven days and seven nights :  during which time there is a terribletempest and violent waves, whence the ship is founderingamidst the disturbed ocean.  All of the passengers and sailors fear death, as they wail and exhort the gods for help without considering about the possibility fo self-reliance.  However, the wise Mahajanaka, instead of exhorting for the help of others, prepares himselfto swim through the midst of the ocean waves that are full of fierce and hostile marine creatures.

ACT 2 SEVEN DAYS AND SEVEN NIGHTS
Mahajanaka swan for seven days and seven nights whithout discouragement.  At a time of exhaustion, hefelt something treading on the sea floor, which turned out to be, in fact, a Giant Sea Crab.  When on board.  Mahajanaka is told by the Suvarnabhumic traders that it shall not be all, but only one of the Seven Meritorious Individuals in the Fifth Udakupamasutta that shall be entitled to touch the Giant Sea Crab.  
   

ACT 3 THE VIRIYA-PARAMI (PERFECTION OF PERSEVERANCE)
Mani Mekhala, the Goddess of the seas, notices Mahajanaka swimming alone in the vast and void ocean.  She wonders why and wherefore he continues striving to swim, although the shore is nowhere to be heheld.  In response to her question, Mahajanaka responds by saying that if he persists with perseverance, the destination shall be one day achieved.  Nonetheless, if otherwise, then he shall fall victim to fierce sea animals like the others.

Having been insightful of Mahajanaka's great perseverance, Mani Mekhla delivers him from the wild waves and gently cradles him embrace to Mithila.  Prior to falling asleep from exhaustion, he hears that Mani Mekhala requests for him to share his wisdom by educating people through the establishment of the 'Bodhiyalaya Great Wisdom Centre'.  meaning the abodeof enlightenment, which he mistakenly recognizes as 'Pudalay Mahavijjalaya' while he is half-asleep.

 ACT 4 HOW SHALL A KINGLESS KINGDOM BE?
At the same time, King Princess Sivali Devi uncrowned because, according to local traditions of monarchy succession, female descendants fail to succeed the throne.

As a consequence, Mithila is in a state of chaos How shall a kingless Kingdom be?

ACT 5 ORACLE GRAND CHARIOT
Before his demise, King Polajanaka issued his command that anyone who isentrusted to the Mithila throne must be able to solve the riddles and acquirethe Sixteen Great Treasures to string the Bow that requires the strength of a thousand men, to tell which side is the head of the Square Throne, and to please the Princess.  Nonetheless, when no one demonstrates themselves to have such complete attributes, the courtiers decide to release an oracle Grand Chariot in pursuit of that able person.  The Grand Chariot rides throughout the kingdom and eventually stops before Mahajanaka who is asleep under a tree.  After his accomplishment of all four requirements, the countiers and people in the state of Videha are elated and unanimously crown Mahajanaka as a King of Mithila.

ACT 6 CORONATION CELEBRATION   
Consequently, Mahajanaka is enthroned, reigning over the entire kindom with righteousness, serving his people with peace and well-being and maintaining the religions.  For his people, he is thus the King who is admirably extolled in hightest praise.

ACT 7 THE TREE AND THRONE ALLEGORY
One day when King Mahajanaka goes to a mango grove in the Royal Court, he beholds the two mango trees at the entrance.  One is fruitful, the other, fruitless.  After seeing the King pick and eat a mango fruit, the people become greedy, climbing up the tree and fighting one another for the tasty fruits.  As a result, the tree is uprooted - finally falling down.  Aroused to his compassion, the King allegorizes the throne as the fruitful tree, menaced by greedy people, and wishes to live a non-striving, peaceful life like the leafless and fruitless tree, that is, of ordination.

ACT 8 THE TREE OF WISDOM
All courtiers ask the King about his decision regarding the uprooted mango tree.  With his transcendental wisdom, the King has the tree restored to regain its health and propagated for the further benefit of his people.

Afterwards, the King recalls wath he was told by Mani Mekhala abut sharing his wisdom with others.  Therefore, he establishes the Pudalay Mahavijjalaya for the greater education of the people.

ACT 9 MAHAJANAKA MAHA RAJA      
With Mahajanaka's merit and might of righteousness, perfections and benevolence, the Mithila people, to return their gratitude, join in praising him as the Maa Raja, the Greatest King of them all.

Wat Benchamabopit (วัดเบญจมบพิตรดุสิตวนาราม)

Opening hours :  8 a.m. to 18 p.m.      




Uposatha Hall (Bot or Ubosoth in Thai)
Uposatha all (bot or Ubosoth in Thai) of Wat Benchama-bopitr is one of the finest works of architectural arts of the Bangkok period.  It is a structure of the four gabled style.  The east gable extends in an oblong shape.  The north and the south gables were connected to its cloister with a four-tiered roof.  The principal north the Uposatha all.  There are boundary walls (balustrades) in front of the Uposatha Hall.  The maker inscribed with Dharmacakra or the Wheel of Low placed in the enclosed terraceat the back of the Ubosatha Hall.  Within the boundary walls, there floored with  light pink and grey granite slabs.

Wat Mongkon Kamalawat (Wat Leng Noei Yi) วัดเล่งเน่ยยี่

Wat Mongkon Kamalawat (Wat Leng Noei Yi), Bankgok, Thailand



Formerly Called Wat Leng Noei Yi. 

The Temple was built in 1871.  Phra Archan Chin Wang Samathiwat (Sok Heng)
in order to disseminate buddhism in Mahayana Sect.

King Rama V later granted a new name to the temple as Wat Mangkon Kamalawat.

The Ubosot (Ordination Hall) was built in Chinese architectural style with the waving tiles roof.  Decorated with animal and floral design stuccos.  The principal buddha image is gold coloured of Chinese style in front of the ubosot.  There stands an altar used for religious rites.  Inside the wiharn (Sermon Hall).

The images of Thao Chatulokaban (The Four Guardians of the World) in Chinese warrior costumes are installed.  There are many statues of saints of the local chinese belief.

On the rear of the temple.  There are 3 pavilions.  One of Guanyin.  One of The Temple Founder and of Lak Chow Saint.  The Faithfull people believe that coming to pay homage to all the saints in the temple will bring.  Them good lucks in various as pects of life such as health, business or family life.

Yaowarat Road ถนนเยาวราช

Yaowarat Road
The road was built during 1892-1900 by the order of King Rama V, starting from Ong Ang Canal to end at Wat Traimit Witthayaram Worawiharn with a total distrance of 1,532 meters.


 

The name Yaowarat meaning The Yong King was referred to King Rama V who had the throne ascendency since he was only 15 years old.  The road was later on known as Chaina Town of Thailand due to the area all along both sides were the shops and residences fo the Tahi Chinese.  It was Chinese's biggest linving quarter of Thailand in the past, Yaowarat was the first road where the countery's tallest buildings were situated, called seven-storeyes and nine-storeyed buildings on both sides of the road. There were many famous chinese restaurants, Chaloem Buri Cinema the most modern on in that decade, many reliable goldshops as well as hundred of shops selling both fresh and preserved merchandises used for Chinese food cooking.  At present, Yaowarat's significance is not fading.  It is still one of the coundtry's most bustling commercial and deliciuos food district.

รัชการที่ 5 โปรดเกล้าฯ ให้สร้างขึ้นในปี พ.ศ.2435-2443 ตั้งต้นจากบริเวณคลองโอ่งอ่าง ถึง วัดไตรมิตรวิทยารามวรวิหาร เป็นระยะทาง 1,512 เมตร คำว่า เยาวราช มีความหมายว่า พระราชาที่ทรงพระเยาว์ หมายถึง รัชกาลที่ 5 ขึ้นครองราชย์ เมื่อมีพระชนมายุเพียง 15 พรรษา ต่อมาถนนสายนี้ได้ถูกขนานนามว่าเป็น ไชน่าทาวน์ ของเมืองไทย  เนื่องจากตลอดสายของถนนเป็นแหล่งทำมาหากิน และที่อยู่อาศัยของชนชาวจีน  นับได้ว่าเป็นชุมชนที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย  ในอดีต ถนนเยาวราช เป็นถนนสายแรกที่มีตึกที่สูงที่สุดในประเทศไทยตั้งอยู่ คือ ตึกเจ็ดชั้น และ ตึกเก้าชั้น  บนสองฝากของถนน มีภัตตาคารจึนชั้นดี มีโรงภาพยนต์เฉลิมกรุง ที่ทันสมัยในยุคนั้น  มีร้านขายทองคุณภาพดีที่เชื่อถือได้

นอกจากนั้นยังเป็นแหล่งอาหารสด และอาหารแห้งเพื่อนำไปประกอบอาหารจีนมากมาย  ปัจจุบัน เยาวราช ยังไม่คลายความสำคัญลง ยังคงเป็นย่านธุรกิจการค้า และย่านอาหาร ที่ได้รับความนิยมจากผู้คนอยู่ตลอดไป

Wat Pathum Wanaram

Wat Pathum Wanaram (วัดปทุมวนาราม) is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand.  

It is located in the district Pathum Wan,   
between the two shopping malls Siam Paragon and CentralWorld, and across the street of Siam Square.

The temple was founded in 1857 by King Mongkut (Rama IV) as a place of worship near his Sa Pathum Palace.
The full name of the temple is Wat Pathum Wanaram Ratcha Wora Viharn (วัดปทุมวนารามราชวรวิหาร).

Wat Saket (Phukhao Thong or Golden Mountain)

Phukhao Thong or Golden Mountain           

A Golden Pagoda name Borom Banphot. On top of the chedi are Lord Buddha's relics.





      The second-classed Royal Monastery of Woramahawiharn was built in Ayuthaya Period, Formaerly know as Wat Saket, it was restored during the reign of King Rama I who renamed it to Wat Saket, meanig hair-washing because he used to stay overnight to clean himself on his way back from the war in Combodia.  Ubosot (ordination hall) has beautifully carved and mirror decorated gables.

Phukhao Thong (Golden Mountain) was built in the reign of King Rama III
in a form of 12-indented base Chedi (Pagoda), but not finished, King Rama IV changed by building Chedi on Top of The Mountain instead and gave the name Phra Borommabonphot.

The Constraction was complete in King Rama V's reign, inside The Chedi,
The Lord Buddha's relics from India were contained.
