Wat Phra Non was built in Rattanakosin period. It is an ancient temple from the reign of Au Thong Suvarnabhumi. Presently, there are many Thais and foreigners come visit the temple everyday as this place is counted as an Unseen Thailand tourism place. 

There are many highlights inside the temple. Since you enter the temple, you will encounter the sermon hall in a monastery in front of the temple. Later, when you walk a little bit more through inside, you will spot a fish farm called Auttayarn Majcha 



which is actually a Royal project under HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. There are a variety of fish living here such as Pangasius sutchi, Carp, Gourami, etc. Visitors can make a merit here by feeding fish. Also, next to a fish farm, there is a Guan Yin Shrine opens for any believers. Besides, Phra Non Sanctuary is counted as another highlight of the place. The sanctuary is in a tetrahedron shape.




There is one reclining Buddha image which was made of rock lies inside the sanctuary. The Buddha image here is a little bit different from others as the image is in the lying on back posture with two meters size. It is pretty much similar to the one at Kusinara town, India. There are a variety of trees and plants grow all over the area which make the place more attractive and peaceful. Visitors can come over the place by car. Take the same route with Wat Phra Sri Rattanamahathat. Keep going straight for 4.1 kilometers from Somparnkong Road and you will spot the temple on your right.

Wat Phra That Doi Tung is a Chedi housing relies of the Loard Buddha.  This is a bone that links the front shoulder to the lower throat portion under the Adam's apple know in Thai as "hai plara'.
There is a legend that over 1000 years ago, around B.E. 1454, Venerable Phra Maha Kassapa Thera and King Achutarat, a ruler of Yonok Nakkaphan, and their officers had propitiated the relics which were brought from India to be enshrined on this hill.  

Many 'Tung' or religious flying flags, some as long as 1000 wa were flown on the hill top.  The rims of the flags were waving in the rea demarcating the holy area on this hill (Doi).  From then on, the hill has been call 'Doi Tung' to date, Phra That Doi Tung is the first chedi of Lanna.  Tung is a dignified and auspicious identity of Lanna.  Later in B.E. 2470,



Kruba srivijaya had the stupa renovated with the Lanna are style.  The new structure was then built to cover the original one inside.

The Mae Fah Luang Graden is a beautifully landscaped garden and tourist attract which is part
of the Doi Tung Development Project.  It is located on 10 acres of land that was originally the 
Akha village of Pa Kluay, part of an important route for opium caravans and those involved in 
heroin-related trafficking and weapons in the past.

With the villagers resellted, a garden of temperate flowers was created in accordance with the
Princess Mother's wish to give Thai people who have never travelled overseas an opportunity
to enjoy a temperate flower garden.

The decorative flowers in Mae Fah Luang Garden are grown and nurtured by local villagers,
hundreds of whom have bbon trained and work there, earning a sustainable lovelihood.




In 1993, the Pacific Asia Tourism Assoication (PATA) named the Mae Fah Luang Graden
winner of PATA Award for tourist site development.
