THE DEVASATHAN SHRINE

             The Giant Swing was originally constructed in 1784 for use in the swing ceremony,
although said ceremony has been discontinued since the reign of Rama VII.

             It is 21.15 metres in height and is know as a symbol in Bangkok.  It is located in front of
the Devasthan Shrine and City Hall and is near Wat Suthat Temple.  

             In 1949, the Fine Arts Department announced that the Giant Swing would be registered
as a histosic site of national importance.

          สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2327 เพื่อใช้ประกอบพิธีโล้ชิงช้า ในพระราชพิธีตรียัมพวาย ตรีปวาย ของ

ศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดู ซึ่งปัจจุบันได้เลิกไปแล้ว ตั้งแต่สมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ตั้งอยู่

หน้าวัดสุทัศน์เพทวราราม และลานหน้าศาลาว่าการกรุงเทพมหานรค (ลานคนเมือง) ใกล้กับเทวสถาน

โบสถ์พราหมณ์ โดยกรมศิลปากรได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนเสาชิงช้าเป็นโบราณสถานสำคัญของชาติ 

เมือวันที่  22 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2492

King Rama V had the Temple built in 1869, and made it Royal Temple of His Rign as the custom had been done by former Kings I.E.

Wat Phra Chetuphon was of King Rama I's Reign, Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) was of King Rama II's Reign, Wat Rachaorasarm was of King Rama II's Reign, Wat Rachapradit was of King Rama IV's Reign.  The word Wat Chabophit means the temple built by the King, and the word Sathit Maha Simaram means the temple where big boundary stones areerected.

The temple was well-planned, the round gallary is and outstanding architecture which links Ubosot and Wiharn, inside the Ubosot is the beautiful Thai and French style decoration.

วัดราชบพิธสถิตมหาสีมารามราชวรวิหาร เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นเอก ชนิดราชวรวิหาร รัชการที่ 5 ทรงโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2412 คือ รัชการที่ 1 ทรงสร้างวัดพระเชตุพนฯ  รัชการที่ 2 ทรงสร้างวัดอรุณฯ  รัชการที่ 3 ทรงสร้างวัดราชโอรสารามฯ  และรัชการที่ 4 ทรงสร้างวัดราชประดิษฐ์ฯ  ชื่อของวัดนี้แปลว่า วัดซึ่งพระเจ้าแผ่นดินทรงสร้าง จากคำว่า ราชบพิธ และเป็นวัดที่มีสีมาขนาดใหญ่ตั้งอยู่  จากคำว่า สถิตมหาสีมาราม เป็นวัดที่มีการจัดวางผังอย่างงดงาม จุดเด่นของวัด คือ พระระเบียงวงกลมซึ่งล้อมฐานพระมาหเจดีย์ และเชื่อมพระอุโบสถ กับพระวิหารเข้าด้วยกัน ภายในพระอุโบสถตกแต่งแบบฝรั่งเศส โดยมีศิลปะไทยปนอยู่ มีความงดงามมาก

                                      of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne on 9 June 2016

Continuing the "King's Philosophy"

     The Seventieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne Commemorative Stamp is issued to nonor H.M. King Bhumibol Aduladej, who was respected
as the world's longest reigning monarch when His Majesty was still alive.  This issue is designed
under the theme of "The Longest Reign, the Longest Stamp.  Its unique feature in length of 170mm.
represents "The One King who gloriously reigned for 70 years" and breaks the world's record as
the longest stamp.

     It depicts six royal portraits of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej while he was working;
together with six development centers from every region all over Thailand presenting in the
background.  These centers are deemed the "Living Museum of the Nature" which demonstrates
integrated management in centralization of all relevant sectors with an aim to generate the community development.  Everyone who would like to learn more about those six development
centers can also view the documentary video created by Office of the Royal Development Projects
Board via ASEAN stam application that uses AR technology developed by Faculty of Science,
Ubon Rathathani University.
